Sometimes, we are our own best teachers.

Let’s face it, close calls happen when you’re out on your bike.  Whether it’s going too hot down an unfamiliar road (what led to my wreck), or some dumbass blows through a stoplight right when you’re about to enter the intersection, all close calls are teaching moments.

Once your nerves settle down, and you can start thinking again, take a few deep breaths and think about what happened (but not while riding your motorcycle, mind you).  And I mean really think--not about what the dumbass did, but about what you did.

As yourself a few questions like:

How can I better prepare for this in the future?

What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

What could I have done differently?

What should I have done differently?

The answers can end up saving your life...
